Can I Take Acai Berry While Pregnant?

When a woman is pregnant her doctors always advise them against trying any diet program. This is because when a woman is pregnant she not only needs to supply herself with the proper amount of vitamins, minerals and nutrients but she now needs to feed her growing baby as well. Unfortunately, most women who are expecting a child find that they are more consumed with other things instead of worry about what types of food they are consuming. As a woman gains more pregnancy weight she may become alarmed at the increase in her weight and may begin to worry about her figure and think about how she is going to lose the pregnancy weight so she can get back down to her pre-pregnancy size.

Now that the market is filled with healthy 100% Acai Berry juices and mixes, it can be pretty tempting for a pregnant woman to pick up a bottle of Acai Berry juice or one of the Acai Berry juice blends that are less expensive. Especially when the juice bottles say that they enable weight loss. It all looks very appealing to a pregnant woman who is worried about her baby weight gain. But when a pregnant woman refers to her pregnancy guide books, they all warn pregnant women against taking supplements during pregnancy. But does this apply even to the all natural Acai Berry?

The safety of Acai Berry juice during pregnancy depends on the individual product. Acai Berry smoothie juices that are sold in stores contain small amounts of the Acai Berry and are typically safe to drink during pregnancy as long as they are consumed in small amounts. It is important to check to see if the entire juice or smoothie product is pasteurized. All of the ingredients in these juices need to be pasteurized and not just some of them. The only time a pregnant woman should consider drinking unpasteurized Acai Berry juice is when the berry has been freshly squeezed and the juices are drunk immediately after squeezing the berries such as drinking orange juice that has been freshly squeezed. If the woman is unable to get freshly squeezed Acai Berry juice, she has the choice to buy pure Acai Berry juice and combine it with another fruit juice such as orange juice to obtain the benefits of the Acai Berry without the risk of drinking a full glass of unpasteurized Acai Berry. This is the way some pregnant women get their dose of Acai Berry juice.

If you are pregnant and you are interested in taking an Acai Berry supplement, it is important to talk to your healthcare provider or pharmacist before purchasing and consuming the product while pregnant. Your doctor or pharmacist will know enough about the products to recommend a daily intake amount that will not harm either you or the child.

Please not that many of the Acai Berry supplements and power juices are mixed with additional ingredients. They may also contain high levels of caffeine which is dangerous to an unborn baby. It is important to thoroughly read the labels before purchasing a supplement or juice
